Description

Some lower molars—particularly those with fused or unusually convergent roots—don’t respond well to a standard beak profile. Article-NES-079, marked Fig 73A, offers an adjusted variant of the baseline Fig 73 lower molar forceps, with beak spacing modified to accommodate these less typical root patterns.

Where this model earns its place:

  • Modified beak spacing versus the standard Fig 73 design
  • Suited to fused-root or convergent-root lower molars
  • Surgical stainless steel, autoclave-rated for repeated use
  • Handle geometry consistent with the broader NES lineup

Clinicians who extract regularly know that no single lower molar forceps handle every root configuration equally well—some teeth simply need a beak that closes a bit tighter or sits a bit differently than the textbook design allows for. NES-079 exists to cover that gap, functioning as a secondary option when the standard Fig. 73 doesn’t achieve a secure initial grip.

It’s manufactured under the same quality standards as the rest of Next Edge Surgical’s extracting forceps range, meaning consistent forging, verified tip alignment, and a finish built to withstand the demands of daily clinical sterilization. At $25 per unit, it’s a sensible addition for any practice that wants backup instrumentation on hand for atypical lower molar cases without investing in a completely different forceps category.
