The otoscope head uses a pin contact fitting, and the fixed 6x lens sits in a plastic mount that can be removed when the clinician needs to introduce an instrument through the speculum, useful for cerumen removal or foreign body retrieval during the same visit. Reusable specula in 2, 3, and 4mm sizes cover a slightly different range than the standard otoscope line, suited to smaller ear canals.
The battery handle is brass with an ionized plated finish and a push button switch, running on 2 AA batteries rather than the C cells found on larger units, which keeps the whole instrument lighter in the hand. A 2.5V replacement bulb is easy to source when needed. The set ships in a black pouch, and the otoscope itself is available in multiple colors for practices that like to color code equipment by exam room or provider.
