The NES-880 is a 4 mm Bein Straight elevator, combining the familiar triangular blade of the Bein pattern with a straight shank rather than an angled one. Among our dental root elevators, the straight configuration is chosen when the operator wants force to travel in a direct line from hand to tip, without the offset that angled patterns introduce.
That straight shank changes how the instrument feels in hand. Rotational force applied at the handle transfers with minimal deflection to the triangular blade at the tip, which some clinicians prefer for anterior teeth where a direct approach angle is already available and an offset shank would add an unnecessary bend to the motion. The triangular cross section still performs the core function, expanding against the root as it rotates within the ligament space.
