The NES-988 is a Winter pattern root elevator, item code NES-988, built around the T-bar handle design that defines this elevator family. Among our dental root elevators, the Winter pattern stands apart because of how it transmits force. The cross-bar handle sits perpendicular to the shank, giving the operator a rotational grip instead of a straight push grip, which changes how force reaches the root.
This matters most when working on mandibular molars that have been sectioned or fractured at the furcation. Once the roots are separated, the T-handle lets the clinician apply a controlled twisting motion rather than relying on wrist strength alone, which helps loosen a root without forcing the surrounding bone.
