The NES-897 extends the grooved luxating line to a 5 mm tip, suited to larger teeth where a narrower luxator would need repeated repositioning to cover the full root circumference. The channeled blade still performs the same job as its smaller counterpart, keeping fluid and debris clear of the cutting edge so the tip maintains consistent contact with the root surface throughout the procedure.
At this size, the instrument fits well with molars and other multi-rooted teeth, where the luxating technique benefits from a wider blade that can sever more of the ligament attachment per pass. Rather than reworking a small tip around the entire root several times, a 5 mm luxator covers more ground with each motion, which can shorten the time spent on the ligament-severing phase before forceps are introduced.
