Dental Curette – 2/3 Springfield – NES-1710

The Springfield pattern doesn’t get the same name recognition as a Gracey or a Columbia, but clinicians who’ve used one tend to keep reaching for it. The NES-1710 2/3 Springfield curette carries a double-ended universal blade with a slightly heavier build than many of the finer scaling patterns, giving it a bit more presence when working through firmer, more established calculus deposits.
Both ends cut on two edges, following the universal rather than area-specific convention, which means the instrument adapts to whichever surface it meets without demanding a particular hand rotation. That flexibility comes with a tradeoff — like other universal blades, it asks for a bit more attentiveness to angle and pressure than an area-specific curette would, since the operator is responsible for finding the correct working angle rather than the blade doing it automatically.
Where the 2/3 pairing shows its value is in general scaling across mixed anterior and posterior surfaces, particularly in cases where deposits are thicker and a sturdier blade holds up better under repeated pressure. The tip also serves as a working diagnostic instrument, letting the clinician confirm smoothness by feel once scaling is complete.
Machined from surgical stainless steel and rated for standard autoclave cycles, the NES-1710 holds its edge through routine use. A dependable option for practices that want a heavier-duty universal curette alongside their finer area-specific set.
