The NES-1630 shares its Towner-Jaquette lineage with the NES-1629 but is cut to the Fig. U15/30 specification, a slightly different blade angle intended to widen the range of contact points and embrasures a single scaler can comfortably reach. Like every sickle-style instrument, the working end tapers to a sharp point with two cutting edges meeting at the tip, built for hard, supragingival calculus rather than subgingival root work.
