Description

Lingual upper
The tongue side of the upper arch is where a lot of clinically important detail hides — and where most dental cameras simply can’t point without help.
The NES-1177 is a lingual upper mirror, positioned behind the maxillary teeth to reflect what a direct shot never could: palatal surfaces, lingual wear patterns, the backside of anterior restorations, and areas relevant to bruxism or erosion assessment. It’s a niche diagnostic instrument , but for the cases it’s built for — cosmetic anterior work, occlusal analysis, or documenting wear from parafunctional habits — there’s no substitute.
Like the rest of Next Edge Surgical’s photographic mirror range, the reflective face is rhodium-coated to prevent the double-image distortion that ordinary mouth mirrors produce under flash, so the lingual view actually comes out sharp and usable rather than smudged.
A few practical notes: this angle takes more practice to shoot cleanly than buccal or occlusal views, since positioning behind the anterior teeth is tighter and patient tolerance is lower. Warming the mirror before use (to prevent fogging) matters even more here, given the extra time needed to frame the shot correctly.
Surgical stainless steel, autoclave-rated, sized for the adult upper arch. At $30, it’s a specialist addition rather than a everyday-use tool, but an essential one for practices doing serious anterior case documentation. Bulk pricing (10% off) applies at 100+ units.
