Luxating elevators work differently from conventional root elevators, and the NES-1002 is a good example of why blade geometry matters. The inverted curved tip on this instrument is shaped to engage root surfaces that a straight blade simply cannot reach from the buccal approach.
When the clinical situation calls for lingual or distal access, an inverted curved blade seats cleanly against the root surface and allows the clinician to apply directional luxating force without repositioning or improvising with the wrong instrument.
