The 11-915-17 is a Woodson Dural Separator/Packer, a double ended periosteal elevator designed for gentle tissue separation and packing during procedures where the dural layer or adjacent soft tissue must be handled with care. Measuring 17.5 cm, or approximately 7 inches, the instrument is proportioned for controlled use within confined surgical fields.
Each end of the instrument serves a distinct function. One end carries a grooved blade that allows the surgeon to slide along a tissue plane while maintaining contact and orientation, which is useful when separating dura from surrounding bone or soft tissue without applying excessive pressure. The opposing end features a 3 mm blunt tip, shaped for packing rather than cutting, allowing material to be positioned or tissue to be gently displaced without risking inadvertent injury to delicate structures.
