Three things matter when you are placing temporary cement or a thin base:
• how little the instrument displaces what is already there
• how cleanly the material leaves the blade
• whether you can feel the surface under the tip
The NES-1980 is cut for exactly those three requirements. One end sits slightly wider than the other so you can choose coverage or precision without changing tools. The transition between the two feels natural in the hand. No sudden jump in resistance. No need to recalibrate pressure mid-stroke.
Stainless construction keeps both ends true after repeated autoclave cycles. The balance point sits close to the working area, which reduces the small tremors that appear when an instrument is handle-heavy. Many find it becomes the default choice for provisional cementation and for lining preparations that still have intact enamel walls.
