Dental Curette – Sickle Scalers – NES-1636

Fig. 204S
The NES-1636 shares its lineage with the classic Fig. 204 pattern but is cut to the 204S specification, a refinement that changes the blade’s proportions just enough to suit clinicians who want a slightly different feel in hand without switching to an entirely new scaler family. Both versions target the same job — anterior and interproximal supragingival calculus — but the 204S trims the geometry down in a way many hygienists find easier to control during long scaling sessions.
At a glance:
Fig. 204S blade pattern, a refined variant of the universal 204 sickle scaler
Pointed tip with two converging cutting edges for anterior and interproximal calculus
Slim profile suited to tight embrasures without crowding adjacent soft tissue
Also serves as a diagnostic instrument for detecting subtle calculus ledges by feel
Surgical stainless steel blade, resistant to dulling under normal scaling pressure
Autoclave-compatible for routine sterilization between patients
Clinicians who trained specifically on the 204S tend to prefer its adjusted geometry over the standard 204, even though both instruments handle the same basic task. Stocking both, or keeping the 204S as the primary anterior scaler, gives a practice room to match the instrument to whatever technique its hygienists were trained on.
