Dental Curette – Sickle Scalers – NES-1635

Fig. 204
The Fig. 204 pattern is one of the most recognized shapes in sickle scaling, and the NES-1635 is ground to that exact specification. Two straight cutting edges converge into a sharp point, and the blade sits at an angle that makes it a genuinely universal instrument — equally comfortable working the facial, lingual, and interproximal surfaces of anterior teeth rather than being locked into one specific arch position. That versatility is part of why the 204 shape shows up so often on general and hygiene trays: it’s often the first sickle scaler a clinician reaches for before deciding whether a more specialized pattern is needed.
Because the tip stays sharp and narrow, it slides into tight anterior embrasures without forcing the soft tissue aside, breaking supragingival calculus loose in fewer passes than a bulkier blade would manage. It also works well as a diagnostic instrument, letting a clinician run the tip along the gumline to feel for hidden ledges of calculus before committing to a full scaling sequence.
Manufactured from surgical stainless steel and built to hold its edge through repeated sharpening and autoclaving, the NES-1635 is priced and built to be a workhorse rather than a specialty piece — the scaler most practices keep within arm’s reach on every operatory tray.
