Not every curette shape suits every tooth, which is why the CP-12 pattern exists alongside its siblings rather than replacing them. The NES-1413 pairs this narrower, more contoured curette blade with a Fig. 23 explorer on the opposite end, giving hygienists a combination built specifically for tighter anatomy — narrow embrasures, anterior line angles, and root surfaces where a bulkier blade simply won’t seat properly.
The CP-12 profile carries less blade width than its CP-18 counterpart, so it slips into confined spaces without tipping the instrument at an awkward angle to make contact. That matters most on mandibular anteriors and tight interproximal contacts, where a wider curette tends to skip over deposits instead of engaging them. The explorer end stays true to the classic Fig. 23 curve, useful for confirming a surface is clean once the curette has done its work, and doubling as a general-purpose diagnostic instrument during new-patient exams.
Both ends share one continuous stainless steel shaft, forged rather than welded, so there’s nothing for debris to lodge into during use or cleaning. The instrument autoclaves without pitting and holds its cutting angle through repeated sharpening, which extends its working life well beyond instruments that dull after a season of heavy use.
