Fig. 1L
The NES-910 is a Winter pattern elevator, Fig. 1L, built for cases that call for more mechanical leverage than a standard elevator provides. This design is part of our dental root elevators lineup, where the Winter pattern stands out for its cross-bar handle, a T-shaped grip that lets the operator apply significantly more rotational force than a standard palm grip allows.
That added leverage is the whole point of the design. Impacted teeth and firmly retained roots sometimes resist the force a conventional handle can generate comfortably, and the cross-bar handle on a Winter elevator distributes that force across the fingers and palm more efficiently, letting the operator work through denser resistance without straining the wrist.
Clinicians typically reach for this pattern in situations such as:
Impacted third molar extractions where standard leverage isn’t sufficient
Firmly retained roots that resist elevation with a conventional handle
Cases requiring sustained rotational force over a longer engagement period
Oral surgery settings where heavier leverage instruments are part of standard protocol
The Fig. 1L designation refers to the specific tip curvature and left orientation, matched to particular tooth positions within a graduated Winter set. Because this pattern is built for more demanding cases, technique still matters. Excess force applied carelessly can transmit stress to adjacent structures, so the added leverage should support controlled elevation rather than replace careful technique.
