Not every lower molar extraction calls for maximum leverage. On first and second mandibular molar roots, where bone density is high and the surrounding anatomy leaves limited room for error, controlled force matters more than raw mechanical advantage. Its shorter leverage geometry reduces the risk of over-driving the instrument apically or transferring excessive lateral force to the buccal plate, both of which are real concerns when working in the dense posterior mandible.
