Description

Square and rectangular archwire behaves differently under a bending plier than round wire does, and the Article NES-3782 Arch Bending Plier is designed specifically around that difference. Built for convenient handling of square or rectangular wire up to .020″/0.51mm, its jaw geometry accounts for the flat sides and corners that a round-wire plier simply isn’t shaped to grip properly.
Because rectangular wire carries torque information in its cross-section, an improper grip during bending can twist or distort that cross-section unintentionally, throwing off the torque values built into the wire. This plier’s jaw is designed to hold the flat sides securely, letting practitioners bend the wire’s path without disturbing its rotational orientation.
That distinction matters most in finishing-stage mechanics, where rectangular wire is often doing double duty: guiding tooth position and controlling torque simultaneously. A bending plier that respects the wire’s shape helps preserve that torque control through every subsequent adjustment.
Built from stainless steel, the plier is fully autoclavable, holding its jaw precision through repeated sterilization, an important factor since consistent grip geometry is what protects the wire’s rectangular profile in the first place.
For practices working extensively with rectangular archwire in comprehensive treatment, this plier is a practical, purpose-specific tool that general round-wire pliers can’t substitute for.
