The NES-1622 extends the Gracey series into the transition zone between anterior teeth and premolars, carrying the Fig. 5/6 blade configuration that periodontal specialists reach for when anterior curettes run out of anatomical range. Unlike the NES-1620 and NES-1621, which are built for buccal and lingual anterior work respectively, this piece is contoured to adapt across surfaces in that anterior-to-premolar transition, cutting down on the number of instrument swaps needed mid-procedure.
Machined from surgical stainless steel, the blade holds a fine edge through repeated scaling strokes and takes well to resharpening, so it stays functional across many sterilization cycles rather than dulling out after a handful of uses. The shank is angled to keep the terminal third of the blade properly seated against the root surface, reducing the tissue trauma that comes from over- or under-angled strokes. Many clinicians also use it as a diagnostic instrument, running it along the sulcus to gauge attachment loss and root roughness before deciding on scaling depth or referral.
Its handle is balanced for a light, controlled grip during longer procedures, which matters most during full-mouth debridement appointments where hand fatigue otherwise builds up fast.
