Dental Curette – Sickle Scalers Mc Call Mesial – NES-1637

Fig. 11/12 – MC
Where the 204-series scalers are built as general-purpose anterior instruments, the NES-1637 breaks from that family entirely. It’s ground to the McCall Fig. 11/12 pattern, a lineage with its own distinct shank curvature developed specifically for posterior interproximal work, and this particular piece is set up for mesial surfaces.
Key details:
McCall Fig. 11/12 pattern, purpose-built for posterior mesial embrasures
Sharp, pointed sickle tip with a triangular blade cross-section
Shank angle keeps the cutting edge properly seated against mesial contact points
Functions as a diagnostic instrument for locating calculus in tight posterior spaces
Surgical-grade stainless steel construction, rated for repeated autoclave cycles
Comfortable handle diameter for controlled pressure during scaling strokes
McCall-pattern scalers exist because posterior mesial surfaces sit in some of the hardest-to-reach real estate in the mouth — tight contacts, curved roots, and limited visibility all work against a generic instrument. The NES-1637 is shaped around that specific problem rather than being a repurposed anterior scaler, which is why practices doing heavier periodontal maintenance tend to stock it as a dedicated piece rather than relying on a universal scaler to cover the same ground.
