Description

"Spaltzange," the German term for separating forceps, names Article NES-297 (Fig. 6) precisely: this is Next Edge Surgical LLC's dedicated instrument for splitting multi-rooted teeth into manageable sections before extraction.

Separating a tooth is a technique unto itself, distinct from standard extraction. When a molar's roots have diverged too widely, or decay has weakened the crown in a way that risks fracture under standard traction, sectioning the tooth first can turn an unpredictable extraction into a controlled, staged procedure. The Fig. 6 beak is engineered specifically for that splitting action rather than the gripping-and-pulling mechanics of a typical forceps.

Precision matters enormously here, since an uncontrolled split can complicate an already difficult case. The jaw design applies force in a way that encourages a clean separation along the tooth's natural division, reducing the chance of unpredictable fracture into the surrounding bone.

The handle is shaped to support the controlled, deliberate pressure this technique demands, and surgical-grade stainless steel ensures the instrument holds its precision through years of sterilization.

  • Spaltzange-style beak for controlled tooth separation
  • Fig. 6 geometry for precise, predictable splitting
  • Specialized alternative to standard extraction technique

A distinctive, technique-specific instrument within a comprehensive dental extracting forceps set.
